SQUIDGE

Four-piece alternative punk from the South West

Squidge, South West Grunge

GOBBY is a 113-second amalgamation of gritty attitude and intense energy which wastes no time getting to the good bits. Born from a cacophony of nonsensical jamming, this song is designed to make you feel brash and rowdy, like watching Scott Pilgrim pummel the living s**t out of an evil ex-boyfriend for the first time. You will be demanded to stand up and give yourself whiplash headbanging to those chunky guitars, whilst shouting to that catchy chorus “I get gobby when I’m high”. This song is a riff packed concoction that’ll make you feel confident enough to not taking any nonsense from anyone.

Devoted performers, Squidge have a countless number of shows under their belt and are renowned for their engagement with grassroots scenes in the South West, South Wales and the South Coast; crowd-surfs, mosh-pits, full-room singalongs and an arena-like mentality are common themes for any Squidge gig. The band have shared stages across the country with a range of fellow alternative heavyweights including Sick Joy, Muskets, Phoxjaw and Beans On Toast with further extensive gigging intended for 2023.

2022 saw Squidge release a series of impressive A/B sides in the form of Overcast/Tiramisu, described by Ear Nutrition as a ‘metamorphic contortion’ of alternative rock, while their latest release Gobby/John has seen support from a wealth of playlists and radio stations, including some Radio 1 Rock Show airplay courtesy of the formidable Alyx Holcomb. 2023 promises to be an exciting year for Squidge as the band gear up to release a new EP, embark on new tours and crush new boundaries.
