Astuand is a faceless entity, a non-vanity project where symbolism and music take the foreground. Emerging primarily from the South Wales city of Cardiff, Astuand is a collaborative effort between varying backline composers and one vocalist/lyricist. Musically, the project seeks to deliver a concoction of alternative sounds and poetic musings through the vessel of a unique and identifiable sound signature, coasting through nuances of alternative rock, pop-rock, alt-R&B and hip-hop.
Debut single Cages (I Feel Low) is a niche of its own, capitalising on an easy-to-listen composition and a sense of driven melancholy. Fronted by anonymity, the track collates a variety of influences and redistributes them into a solid and emotional pop-rock/alternative anthem. Lyrically, Cages (I Feel Low) distributes themes of self-reflection, contemplating times with old friends, self-esteem struggles, helplessness and an ever-distant desire for the love of self and another.
